Abstract The First Church of Christ in Granville was gathered in 1744, and Moses Tuttle was ordained as the first minister in 1747. The first meeting house was constructed during Tuttle’s ministry. Timothy Mather Cooley, a Granville native, was called to become the minister of the First Church of Christ in 1795 and he served as the pastor for 63 years. In 1937, the First Church of Christ and the Baptist Church in Granville decided to share a building and merge to form the Granville Federated Church....

Abstract

A Congregational church was officially formed in Halifax in 1734, with 53 founding members. A second meeting house was built in 1852. In 1842 a Ladies Sewing Circle was organized and continued to be central to church life. The Halifax Congregational Church is now a member of the United Church of Christ, and continues to serve the community today. This collection consists of early administrative records for the Congregational Church and the associated parish in Halifax.

Abstract When the western part of Haverhill became too populous for one church in 1734, the West Parish of Haverhill was established by a petition to the General Court of Massachusetts, and the church, initially known as the Third Church, was itself established in 1735.
